Maple Berry Grits

Rise and shine already!

Grits are creamy, slightly sweet, and full of fiber, iron, and vitamin B.



2 cups water

2 cups almond or other nondairy milk

1 cup stone-ground grits

1/4-1/2 tsp salt

1-2 tsp maple syrup or other liquid sweetener

1-2 tbsp jam

As many berries as you would like!

  1. Bring water and milk to a boil over medium heat. Whisk in grits and 1/4 tsp salt. Bring to a boil again, then lower heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  2. When grits have absorbed most of the liquid and are tender, turn off heat. Taste and add syrup and the rest of salt, if desired. Top with jam and berries.

Makes 4 servings
