Grits are creamy, slightly sweet, and full of fiber, iron, and vitamin B.
2 cups water
2 cups almond or other nondairy milk
1 cup stone-ground grits
1/4-1/2 tsp salt
1-2 tsp maple syrup or other liquid sweetener
1-2 tbsp jam
As many berries as you would like!
- Bring water and milk to a boil over medium heat. Whisk in grits and 1/4 tsp salt. Bring to a boil again, then lower heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- When grits have absorbed most of the liquid and are tender, turn off heat. Taste and add syrup and the rest of salt, if desired. Top with jam and berries.
